Guide to Costa Rica

Costa Rica is an easy country to travel in and it is a good choice for retirement due to the good infrastructure and low crime rate. It has has good health care, no army and is run by a stable democratic government currently headed by president Oscar Arias, a Nobel Peace Price winner.

You will be able to retire in Costa Rica with less than a quarter of what you would need in the US, Canada or Europe. Costa Rica is now the second favorite honeymoon destination for US citizens! Tourists have a choice of climates from hot tropical beaches to mild mountain areas. Eco destinations abound and most are within easy driving distance of an airport.

The two major airports are the Juan Santamaria Airport near San Jose (code SJO) and the Daniel Oduber Airport near the Nicoya beaches and Liberia (code LIR).
